Open Governance

In addition to our Humanistic philosophy, another unique aspect of Kol Hadash is our open governance structure. Any member who is active in a congregational program or project is encouraged to serve on the Steering Committee -- no nominations, elections, or expectations of donations.

Joining a committee is an easy and rewarding way for members to become more engaged and contribute to the success of Kol Hadash.

Steering Committee

Our Steering Committee functions as our "Board of Directors." ANY member of the Congregation who would like to serve on the Steering Committee is encouraged and welcome to do so! And all members of the congregation are welcome to attend any Steering Committee meeting. Read our vision and mission statements.

Development Committee

Development is a fundraising committee that seeks to build the financial foundation of the congregation. It brainstorms and implements fun and creative FUNdraising events every year, such as Storytelling, Maxwell Street Klezmer Band performance, Talent Show, Bocce Ball – all including drinks and dinner. Pricing for these events is always flexible so that all members can participate.

Finance Committee

Finance prepares the annual congregational budget, oversees investments, and strategizes future fiscal planning. Kudos to our Finance Committee for eliminating fixed dues!

Connections Committee

Connections welcomes new members, keeps in contact with current members and reaches out to prospective members. It’s goal is to make sure members feel valued and that Kol Hadash is meeting their needs.

Youth Education Committee

The Youth Education Committee oversees our Sunday School, B. Mitzvah program, and early childhood outreach; it also helps plan family-focused holiday and cultural events.

Helping Hands Committee

We help people within our own community when the need arises, such as providing a ride to a doctor’s office or grocery shopping, cooking, or simply offering a helping hand.
